I'm assuming you will coat the outside and inside of your dingy with resin and a layer of fiberglass. When you coat the bottom planks with resin add some powdered graffite to the resin. It will help protect the bottom from scrapes and gouges from running it ashore.

That little boat is going to work out really super nice for you two, no more pumping and hoisting a clumsy dinghy, the sail and good oars "man" puts it where rubber boats just don't go, probably even smaller and lighter.

Why couldn't you glue the paper down unto the wood sheet and then simply cut the shapes, rather than tapping all the nail holes? Just wondering...

I guess you have finished marking out the patterns at this point but if you need to do it again get a dressmakers pattern wheel. much quicker to trace the lines.

Go to a leather goods craft store where you can find a rotating hole punch, mounted in a handle that will save you some time on your project.

Out of curiosity, why not spray adhesive the templates down and cut the parts out paper and all? Is the goal to preserve the templates for future reuse?
